I thought this pairing was going to be nothing but pretty eye candy for me and gratuitous Square fanservice, but the scenes they share in the game totally blew my mind with just how well they work together.

Not only is there an amusing level of snark between them as they try to one up each other, there is a definite ease apparent between them. These are two men who understand each other, who can fight alongside each other and have the other's back. I like to think of Leon as someone who has already conquered their darkness, someone who can act as an anchor for Cloud. And Cloud is someone who pushes Leon, who stands as his equal in just about everything.

And you know, they just look gorgeous together. >D
